The Athletic News of May 24th 1882 reported on an athletics meeting at Glen Park cricket ground which included bicycle races on a grass track put on by Greenock Amateur Bicycle Club. The races were two miles (confined) and a two miles open handicap events.
The athletics meeting became an annual event and by 1885 the number of cycle events had increased to 1 and 2 miles bicycle handicap and 1 mile tricycle handicap races.
The Glen Park athletics meetings seemed to come to an end in the mid-1880's around the time that bicycle racing started at Cappielow.
The ground is still in use by Greenock Cricket Club.
