Ramsgate - Chatham House
Chatham Street : CT11 7PS
Ramsgate - Chatham House : Map credit National Library of Scotland Chatham House is a private school that was founded in 1797 by Dr. William Humble on Chatham Street, although there is evidence that the school had existed prior to its formal establishment.

The Ramsgate and St Lawrence Friendly Society held their fete on September 9th 1897 in aid of local hospitals. Bicycle races were included in the sports, there were a two miles open scratch, a one mile handicap open to bicycle clubs on Thanet and a one mile ladies race. The attendance was 2,000 but the bicycle races were poorly supported with only four starters in the men's races and two in the women's race.

The event was repeated the following year, with the same bicycle races and a slightly better entry, but attendance was down and the meeting was not financially successful. There does not seem to have been any further bicycle races at Chatham House after this.

Chatham House school still exists, it was merged in September 2011 with Clarendon House Grammar School to become the Chatham & Clarendon Grammar School.
