The first bicycle racing at Underwood Park was at the Abercorn FC annual sports, which were held over two days on 10th and 17th May 1890, with an attendance of several thousand.' The events on the first day were only for Renfrew competitors, whilst races on second day were open to all. The open bicycle events were one, two and three miles open handicap races and a two miles safety handicap race.
The Paisley Victoria BC held a mid-week meeting on 8th June 1892, there was a large turnout of 2,000 spectators. The highlight of the meeting was a five miles scratch race for the Championship of the club.
The Paisley Daily Express reported that the Underwood Park track had been improved over the winter by properly banking the corners, but this still did not stop accidents at the worst corner in the Abercorn annual sports meeting on 13th May 1893.
This was a busy time at Underwood, Abercorn FC were holding their two day spring meeting and a mid-week summer meeting and Paisley Victoria and Paisley Merchants' CC were running mid-week race meeting. The Abercorn FC meetings were attracting good crowds, 6,000 in 1892 and 4,000 the following year.
By 1897, bicycle racing at the ground was becoming less popular, the Paisley Victoria BC had moved their meetings to Love Street and by 1899 racing had stopped completely. In 1899 Abercorn FC moved to Old Ralston Park and the site was bought by Paisley council who used it for stables and waste destruction. Paisley Recycling Centre now occupies part of the site.
